Carl Raccah is a composer, producer, and creative mentor whose career spans classical music foundations, international studio production, and influential work across advertising, television, documentary, and film. Music has been central to his life from an early age; selected at seven to join The Oratory Prep School Choir, he later became both Head Soloist and Head Chorister.

In the late 1970s, he continued his musical education, studying works by Joaquín Rodrigo (Concierto de Aranjuez) and Edward Elgar (Cello Concerto in E Minor), among others. This early immersion in classical music shaped the disciplined musical sensibility that continues to inform his work.

Carl began his entertainment career in the early 1980s, working alongside Grammy Award winner Nigel Gray (The Police) at the renowned Surrey Sound Studios in Leatherhead, Surrey. He describes this period as formative, particularly Gray’s distinctive approach to production and studio craft.

In the early 1990s, Carl collaborated with Grammy Award winner David Hentschel (Genesis), whose mentorship further refined Carl’s approach to composition, arrangement, and production.

In the mid1990s, Carl returned to his birth country, Nigeria. It wasn’t long before he was commissioned to compose some of the nation’s most recognisable advertising themes, including “Pepsi Big Blue,” “United Bank for Africa – Save for School,” “Ribena Children,” and the Diamond Bank theme, “Diamond in the Sky.”

He also composed the theme music for the longrunning reality television series “The Gulder Ultimate Search,” further cementing his reputation as a leading creative force in Nigeria’s media and entertainment landscape.

During this period, Carl also produced albums for several of Nigeria’s most prominent artists, including Yinka Davies, Fadabasi, and Ashionye. His collaborations with internationally acclaimed musicians such as Orlando Julius Ekemode (O.J. Ekemode) and Majek Fashek expanded his profile across Nigerian and global music communities.

Today, Carl works from his studio in Ireland, composing music for advertising, documentary, and film projects for clients in both Ireland and Nigeria. Drawing on a career that connects classical training, international studio production, and African media culture. He also records, produces and develops emerging Irish artists.
